The Causeway and the Fourth of July (2013)

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

On Thursday, we had our annual 4th of July  party of the “Sanibel” causeway.  This has been a tradition of ours for years, for the bay waters offer a little something for everyone.

Although the presence of Lee County was thick, and when upon the beach I felt much like a visitor, the water temperature was perfect and the fishing was superb.

The weather was typical for the 4th (it rained a few times), but the squalls moved through quickly (I swam in the bay throughout), and by “fireworks time” (dark) everyone was dry and happy!  It was the finest fireworks display I can remember from Sanibel.  Well done!

Below (setting up)  We arrived at 6:15am to ensure “our” spot

Check out this whopper Sea Trout (caught on live shrimp from Whitney’s Bait and Tackle)!
